n the past six years the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has responded to several detections of the Australian subterranean termite Coptotermes acinaciformis (Isoptera: Rhinotermitidae) in New Zealand.  The Ministry’s work against this exotic pest will be presented, as will details of a passive surveillance initiative currently underway to detect further subterranean termite activity in New Zealand.KeywordsCoptotermes acinaciformis, Termites, passive surveillance
